Watkins School To Put on Annual May Day Exercise

The annual May day exercise of the Ellen Watkins schools will be held at 5:30 o’clock Tuesday May 9 at the school.

The first and second grades will dance the “Swedish Dance.” The third grade will dance the “Minuette” and the fifth grade will dance the “Russian Dance.” The fourth and fifth grades will dance the “May Pole Dance.”

Betty Faye Waites has been named queen for the year. The crown bearer will be Danny Edwards; train bearers Odel Rabon and George Lovell; maid of honor, Dorothy Newman; maids in waiting, Betty Ruth Amaker, Polly Wiggins, Tommie Lou Thompson, Janie Mae Cornelius, Nancy Catoe, Mary Ella Butler; flower girls, Barbara Anne Redding, Jo Anne Smith, Barbara Price, Margie Lee, Jean Kelly, Edith Bradwell.

Billy Wallace has been chosen as king. His attendant will be Winfred Clamp; page boys, Jack Germany, Roy Legrande; men of court, Billy Emrie, Harry Prather, John Dent, Otis Prittle, Robert Welch, Harry Melton, Frank Cook, Paul Abbotte, Dothan Jeffers, H. S. Butler, Dale Branham, Luther Kelly, Fred Taylor, Walter Wheeler, J. A. Lucas, Leroy Turbeville.

The party will be held on the school grounds and the public is invited to attend.
