Concert Is Given at Ridgewood

RIDGEWOOD CAMP. AUG. 11 -The patients in the Eastern Star cottage were served ice cream last week by Mrs. Ralph Crosson, worthy matron of Columbia chapter, No 59. Order of Eastern Star, and Mrs. John Harrison, Mrs. J. M Ogilvie and Mrs. S. M. Scruggs, members of the chapter.

Henry Madden of Columbia, a student of Johns Hopkins Medical school, visited the camp Thursday with his brother, Dr. L. Emmett Madden, physician of the sanatorium.

Another in the series of summer concerts by the WPA orchestra of Columbia was given from 10:30 to 11 o’clock Friday morning on the front porch of the administration building.

Mrs. M. P. McCalla had as guests recently Mrs. C. Alexander, Mac McCalla and John McCalla of Lowndesville and Miss Belle Nickels of Columbia.

Grover Gregory of Buffalo spent the day Sunday with Mrs. Grover Gregory.

Mrs. B. T. DeLoach and Charles Hughes DeLoach of Hampton and Mrs. L. R. McDonald of Columbia were visitors at the sanatorium Friday.

Miss Marie Poyas had as company last week Mrs. Fred V. Phipps of Columbia and Mrs. E. S. Jenkinson of Manning.

Mrs. Lila Langley of Columbia was the guest of her son, Barney C. Langley.

Mrs. Sue Porter was visited by Mrs. J. M. Porter, Miss Marian Sue Porter and Arnold Porter of Blaney and Mrs. W. D. Anderson of Columbia.

E. H. P. Miller of Blythewood was the guest of his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Miller.

Mrs. Mary Spann Cullum’s company were Mr. and MRs. C. B. Harrison of Cayce.

L. G. Jenkins and the Rev. W. C. Roliek of Columbia visited Mrs. L. G. Jenkins.

Mrs. J. A. Judy had as guests Miss Aleene Judy, Johnnie Albert Judy, Elmer Lee Judy, Edward Judy and J. A. Judy of Ridgeway.

Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Shand of Columbia were recent visitors at the camp.

George English of Columbia visited the sanatorium on business Monday.

E. H. Rutland had as company last week Mrs. E. H. Rutland of Blythewood, E. H. Rutland, Jr., and Mitchel King of the CCC camp at Winnsboro and E. D. Brannon and L. B. Brannon of Killian.

Miss Nanie Green’s guest were Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Kimball and Horace Kimball of the Monticello road.

Miss Elizabeth Hardy was visited by Mrs. A. Hardy, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. A. Hardy, Jr., Miss Sarah Hardy of Charleston.

Short religious services were held in the cottages Tuesday night by L. C. Shaw, R. E. L. Freeman, Mr. Lindsay, Mr. Wells and Mr. Flemister of the Business Men’s Evangelistic club of Columbia.
