Olympia High School To Play Winnsboro Quintet Tonight

Harry Shealy Makes Debut as Coach.

BEES MEET BLANEY

Doubleheader Offered Fans This Evening at Pacific Community House Gymnasium.

With their best prospects in several years, the Red Devils of Olympia high school will open their basketball campaign at 8:15 tonight at the Pacific community house against Mt. Zion high school of Winnsboro.

In addition to being the opening contest for the Red Devils, the game will mark the inter-scholastic coaching debut of Harry Shealy, Newberry college graduate. Shealy had a successful Whaley Street Methodist team in the Pacific Sunday School circuit last winter and the high school outfit has come along splendidly under his direction.

Four of his starters will be veterans of last year’s crack aggregation, a team that started Olympia back toward the high place it held in South Carolina basketball several years ago.

The only newcomer in the regular line-up is Eldon Grant, guard. The others are: W. S. Gordon and Buddy Gordon, forwards; Jolly Worrell, center, and Bill Knox, guard.

Prices of admission will be only 15 cents and 25 cents and as an added attraction will be a game between Dick Weaver’s Olympia “B” quintet and Blaney.

The opening exhibition on the program will start at 7:15.

Starters for the Imps will be: Harold Worrell and Odelle Robertson, forwards; Fred Bertram, center; Durald Byars and Colie Kirkland, guards.

The strength of the visiting aggregation is unknowns here, but Winnsboro always puts formidable representatives on the floor and Blaney has taken special interest in its teams the past few years.
