It was reported the household members were all born in South Carolina. James B Cooper was a merchant of general merchandise, Barney B Cooper and Benjie Humphries were laborers on the home farm, and Laura Wadkins was a cook for the family.

Barney Belton Cooper, Sr, 38, died on September 2, 1932. He was buried in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Elgin, Kershaw, South Carolina.

He was survived by his wife, Anstis Morgan Cooper and son; Barney Belton Cooper, Jr.

His daughter, Minnie Cooper preceded in him death.
