Leon Sanders Dies in Crash

Camden, Oct. 20 – Leon Sanders, 22, son of Warren J. Sanders of Blaney was almost instantly killed about 9 o’clock tonight on the Camden-Columbia highway when his car collided with another driven by Leo Jenkins, state highway patrolman. The accident occured at a point on the highway about a mile and a half north of Blaney.

Patrolman Jenkins was brought to the Camden hospital where he was treated for flesh wounds and shock. Physicians said that they do not expect his injuries to prove serious.

No witnesses to the accident could be reached at a late hour tonight by officers investigating the tragedy say they were told that young Sanders had three companions with him in the car at the time of the crash. All escaped injury. No date for the inquest has been set pending further investigations by county officers.
