Four Being Held For Brogden Death

Special to The State.

York, Oc. 19 – Four Negroes are being held in the York county jail on a charge of manslaughter as a result of an automobile accident near here last night in which Dave Brogdon of Winnsboro lost his life. The defendants gave their names as Otis Darby, Kitty Darby, Macon Darby and Annie Lou Darby, all of Gastonia.

It was established at a coroner’s inquest held here this morning by Paul G McCorkle, York county coroner, that the car driven by Otis Darby met head-on with Mr. Brogdon’s car and the driver of that vehicle was dead when an ambulance reached the scene.

The accident took place at McConellille, about 12 miles from York.
