Lamar, June 8. — Miss Susie Pearle Moore of Durham, North Carolina, has returned here to resume her position as stenographer with the McSween Mercantile company.
Floyd Vaugh of Columbia is spending a two weeks vacation at his home here.
Miss Ferebe Spears has returned from a visit with relatives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Students who have returned from the various colleges are; Claude McMillan, Wofford; Willie James, Earl Carter and Dennis Yarborough, Clemson; Miss Sarah Beasley, Columbia; Mrs. Lucille Warr and Mildred Searborough, Coker.
Mrs Mamie E Parnell and Miss. Hazel Beasley left Wednesday for Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Parnell will remain for the summer months.
Mr. and Mrs. D C Reynolds, Sr are visiting relatives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mrs. W E Whittaker of Gastonia, North Carolina, is spending a while here with her parents Mr. and Mrs. J Lee Watford.
Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Truette and children of the Fletcher Memorial school are visiting here with the latter’s parents Mr. and Mrs. O B Jordan.
The teachers returning to their homes this week are Miss Bertha Dantzler, Parler; Miss Julia Moore Edwards, Marion; Miss Dorothy Lee Adams and Lillian Adams, Bennettsville; F A Dean, Mount Caramel.
Miss Maxine Scarborough of North, was the weekend guest of Miss Dorothy Scarborough.
Mr. and Mrs. W E Harper of Darlington spent the latter part of the week here with Mrs. Harper’s parents, Mr. and Ms. P V Mims, of near Lamar.
Mrs John Britton and son of Blaney are visitors with Mr. and Mrs. H S Boyd.
The Mothers’ club meeting was held with Mrs L L Turner last Thursday afternoon. Progressive games were in session. In a money contest, Mrs G L Boykin was winner and to her was awarded a box of stationary. Ice cream and cake were served by the hostess.
W B Reynolds attended the reunion of Company C of the Fifteenth United States infantry held in Washington, D.C., May 29, having served in Cuba, China and the Philippines.
