A group of songs was excellently rendered by the grammar school chorus under the direction of Miss Sussie Shannon. The prizes for the school year were delivered by the principal, Miss Connie Lee Andrea, and the medals for the honor grades were awarded by Mrs. Kathleen Watts, superintendent-elect of Kershaw county. Then followed an able address by Miss Mattie E. Thomas of the state department of education of Columbia. Seventh grade diplomas were given 23 boys and girls by the superintendent.
Sunday morning in the Baptist church the annual sermon was preached by the Rev. R. C. Morrison, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Fountain Inn. The special music for this occasion was directed by Miss Fay Hill.
Monday evening the final exercises took place with class day exercises by the seniors. The prizes for the high school were given by the principal, Miss Eulalie Sheely. The medals for the year were awarded by J. Team Gettys, superintendent of the Kershaw county schools. A chorus was rendered by the members of the Glee club, after which an able address was given before the class by J. Strom Thurmond, superintendent-elect of the Edgefield county schools. State diplomas were presented by the superintendent to six boys and seven girls.
These exercises bring to a close four very successful years in the Blaney school under the administration of Superintendent Leonardo Andrea, who will go to Trenton next year as superintendent of the school there much to the regret of the people here. Mr. Andrea will be succeeded here by R. W. Rentz, superintendent at Andrews.
