Mrs. J. W. Atkinson Dies Close To Blaney

Blaney, Aug. 15. Mrs. Louise Atkinson, widow of the late Rev. J. W. Atkinson, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Kitty Young, near Blaney, Thursday afternoon after an illness of several months.
Funeral services were conducted at Colonel Creek Baptist church by the Rev. Mr. Harrison of Blaney. (She was later moved to Spears Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.)
She was born in Kershaw county March 27, 1848, spending her entire life there. She was a Christian woman with many pleasing traits of character and was loved by all who knew her. Before marriage she was Miss Louise Nelson.
She was married 61 years ago to the Rev. J. W. Atkinson. From this union ten children were born, six of which are living, two sons, Elisha Atkinson of Kershaw county, James W. Atkinson of Columbia; four daughters, Mrs. Henrietta Hammond of Lykeland, Mrs. Alice Richardson, Mrs. Kitty Young, Mrs. Laura Sloan all of Kershaw county; 30 grandchildren and scores of other relatives and friends to mourn her death.
