Baptist Meet At Blaney Church

Association Hears Reports on Year’s Work.

The Fairfield Baptist association met with the Blaney Baptist church yesterday morning at 10 o’clock to make reports on the various activities of the past year. About 200 representatives from churches in the association were present.

The opening devotional exercises were conducted by the Rev. E. M. Lightfoot, D. D. Following the exercises the election of officers was in order and the Rev. Hasford B. Jones, pastor of the Southside Baptist church, and the Rev. A. B. Kennedy, pastor of the Tabernacle church, were reelected moderator and clerk-treasurer, respectively.

The committee on order of business made its reprot through W. R. Rabb, a layman of Winnsboro. THe business report on religious literature was next offered and discussed by the Rev. J. Dean Crain, pastor of the Second Baptist church. This report was followed by an address by Dr. J. S. Dill of Greenville.

The discussion of the $75,000,000 campaign was next on the program. Dr. C. E. Burts, secretary of the Baptist general board, the Rev. T. Clagett Skinner, pastor of the First Baptist church, and others made addresses.

The afternoon session was featured by a discussion on public morals by the Rev. E. M. Lighfoot, D. D., and an address by Mrs. J. O. Johnson of the Shandon Baptist church on woman’s work.

The evening meeting began at 7:30 o’clock and was devoted to a report on laymen’s work by Dr. T. A. Quattlebaum of the Shandon Baptist church.

The Fairfield association will meet again this morning at 10 o’clock.
