Hopkins’ Address on Tuesday was very Impressive

Expert on Soils Was Heard With Great Interest by a Large Number From Farms and City.

One of the important events of the week in Columbia was the address of Dr. Cyril G. Hopkins, Tuesday at the courthouse. His address emphasized the necessity for an intelligent understanding of the soils. Since his address a movement for an appropriation for a soil survey has begun.

Every step forward in the line of progressive agricultural methods comes close to the great body of merchants and the Columbia whole salers are alert to cooperate in any plan to develop the agricultural resources of the county.

The most progressive business men of the country, including farmers, heard the address of Dr. Hopkins. Among those present at the courthouse were:
