Camden, March 26 – News was received here today from Blaney of the tragic death of Mrs. Sam Kirkland. Kirkland had been to Columbia and returned home dunk and proceeded to beat his wife. His wife then got some kerosene which she poured over her hair and body and set fire to herself. The coroner’s Jury held her husband. He is now in the Camden jail. It is said that Mrs. Kirkland’s body was badly scarred when her husband beat her. She is survived by five or six children.
