James Moore Davis was born on 20 Nov 1872 a child of Junius Davis and Sarah Amelia de Saussure. He had five siblings, namely: Eliza Champion Davis, John de Saussure Davis, Thomas Frederick Davis, Lloyd Champion Davis, and Sarah Davis.

He was counted in the census in Jun 1900 in Camden, Kershaw, South Carolina, USA as a single, white male, 28 years-old, who earned a living as a bookkeeper. 

Mr. James M. Davis died this morning, August 10, 1900, after a lingering illness. Mr. Davis was a young man, well thought of by everyone, and his untimely end is greatly deplored. The deceased had been engaged in business away from Camden for a number of years, but about a year had to return to Camden on account of his bad health. He leaves two brothers and two sisters, besides a number of other relatives, to mourn his loss.

The remain of Mr. James M Davis were interred at Camden, Kershaw, South Carolina, USA in Quaker Cemetery, this afternoon, August 13, 1900. The funeral services were held in Grace Episcopal Church. The deceased was a grandson of the late Bishop Davis of Camden.
